Behaviour Support & Expectations

What’s the difference between training and behaviour work?

Training typically focuses on teaching skills such as loose lead walking or recall. Behaviour work addresses emotional responses such as fear, anxiety, reactivity, or aggression. Behaviour cases require a deeper assessment and a structured, individualised plan.

How long does behaviour change take?

There is no fixed timeline. Behaviour change depends on many factors including the dog’s history, emotional state, environment, and consistency of implementation. Meaningful progress often happens gradually rather than overnight.

Can you guarantee results?

No ethical behaviour professional can guarantee outcomes. What we can guarantee is a thoughtful, evidence-based plan, honest guidance, and ongoing support tailored to your dog and your circumstances.

Will my dog ever be “fixed”?

Dogs are not broken. The goal is improved well-being, safety, and quality of life - for both dog and owner - rather than perfection. Many dogs make significant progress, but management and ongoing support are often part of responsible ownership.

Can behaviour get worse before it gets better?

Occasionally, yes. As dogs learn new skills or experience new situations, temporary fluctuations can occur. This is discussed during your assessment so you know what to expect and how to respond appropriately.
